Menarini India recognised in World Brand Congress 2013
Our Marketing Director – Girisan Kariangal was recently recognised among the 50 most talented Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) of India. This award covers the entire Indian market across all industries. Girisan received this award at the 22nd Edition of the World Brand Congress held at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai on 22nd October 2013.
In this congress the Global CMO Council & World Brand Congress unveiled the "50 Most Talented CMOs of India" which was intensely researched across all companies. The criteria adopted were:
- Strategic Perspective
- Future Orientation
- Track Record
- Compliance, Integrity and Ethics
- Ability to foster Sustainability
- Marketing Competencies
Girisan has ably led the marketing, regulatory and business development functions in the company over the last three and a half years and has spearheaded various initiatives to increase our market share while living the corporate values. With his usual humility, Girisan had this to say after receiving the award:"While strategy has its vital contribution for which I thank my team, execution is also very important so that we see the best results in the market place. It is therefore imperative to recognize the contribution made by each member of Menarini India in building the impressive track record of growth and customer satisfaction for the past few years. We have significantly out-performed the industry growth, coupled with strict adherence to Compliance, Integrity and Ethics. This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of each one of us and I take this opportunity to sincerely thank all my colleagues for the same".
Apart from brand buyouts, Menarini also plans to bring a few of its skincare medicines in the OTC category soon.
In India, Menarini has Hexilak Silicone Gel in the prescription segment for the removal of scars, and this is being considered for OTC promotion. "Once we are successful with the OTC promotion of Hexilak Silicon Gel, we would evaluate the scope of taking Acnelak, an anti-acne soap, and Papulex (cream/cleansing gel), and the dermo-cosmetic range for the management of acne," said Balwani.
Menarini had started operations in India in 1994 as Menarini Raunaq Pharma Ltd (MRPL), a joint venture with Raunaq Industries. In 2011, it strengthened its presence in Asia-Pacific by acquiring Invida Group, a leading CSO, and renamed the company Menarini Asia-Pacific. Earlier, Invida had acquired the dermatology and primary care brand portfolio from Delhi-based Shalaks Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd. Last year, MRPL was integrated with Invida India; it was rebranded as Menarini India this year.
Currently, Menarini India accounts for about 65 brands acquired and in-licensed from Invida India, ShalaksPharma, MRPL and Sinclair IS Pharma. Menarini has a field staff of 972 (442 in brands and 530 in CSO) in India. As part of its contract sales business, it also sells products of Boehringer Ingelheim and Johnson & Johnson.
